Hi All,

First time in your newsgroup (normally in the SBS newsgroup) but as this is
product specific I thought it best to ask in here.

Ok my client has outlook 2003

What it does initially seemed a bit odd but after seeing why its actually
quite useful

He basically sends an email with a word attachment to recipient A

now he wants to send exactly the same email but with a different attachments
so he goes to Sent Items, selects email sent to A, selects the option to
Forward and selects a new recipient. deletes the attachment and adds the new
attachments back to it, then sends it off fine.

Now I have stood by him and watched this process happen and he has done it
for a long time in this way.

problem

Normally this all works correctly and no problem,

Sometimes when this is done the original Attachments which I saw being
deleted have also reappeared.

The problem this is causing is sometimes the recipient is getting
attachments that this Sender does not want the recipient to see

As I say initially I assumed this was just a user error but I have watched
him do this and sometimes its fine and other times its not!

Any reason for this odd behaviour?

TT

1) He should go to the sent folder, copy the body (Ctrl+A to select all,
Ctrl+C to paste in a new message) then he won't have the problem. It's
always risky in business to resend a message to a new party - if you forget
to remove a line or attachment it can be embarrassing. If he sends the same
message often, a template is in order.

2) How much time elapses between the steps when it works and when it fails?
Outlook has a known issue with draft copies - it sends the copy in drafts
not the one that you are working on, so if he putzs around before deleting
the attachment long enough for an automatic draft copy to the created then
sends it before the next autosave, the first attachment is saved on the
draft and sent. He should get in the habit of hitting Ctrl+S (or the save
button) after switching attachments. I think this problem was addressed in
SP2 though - so install it if it's not already installed. I do recommend
saving a draft manually if the attachments are of a sensitive nature
regardless. It's insurance well worth the cost of an extra keystroke.
