Outlook files

I can't find a place where this question has been answered. My computer
running Outlook Express died, but I was able to back up all of my files on
dvd, including the Outlook emails. My new computer runs Vista and Windows
mail, but doesn't seem to support my Outlook file-types. Is there a way to
open the files on Vista, even as read-only files? Is there a download I can
get that will support these files?

Thank you.

I assume you mean Outlook Express messages/files. Instructions for
transferring OE data to Windows Mail are here:

http://www.oehelp.com/backup.aspx#oe2wm

If you mean Microsoft Office Outlook files, you need to install Outlook on
your Vista machine, copy the Outlook Data File (.pst) to a folder on the
Vista machine where it will NOT OVERWRITE the data file created when you
install Outlook, open Outlook, go to 'File|Open|Outlook Data file', navigate
to the .pst file, and re-connect it.
