I am having a hard time finding a name I added to my
blocked senders list because there are so many and they
are hard to read. I deleted my Aunt and now she ends up
in my deleted folder when I log on. Is there any easy way
to do a search in the blocked senders list for a
username/userid?
You should be asking in an Outlook Express newsgroup. I've set the followup
to that group.
The Outlook Express Blocked Senders list is not kept in a file, it's in the
Registry at
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Identities\{somebignumber}\Software\Microsoft\Outlook
Express\5.0\Block Senders. Under there you should find keys that look like
Mail\Criteria\000, 001, 002, and so on. One of those will be the address
you want. You can use the search function in the registry editor to look
for it. If you decide to delete it with the registry editor, export the
Block Senders key first in case there's a problem so you can restore it if
there is. After removing the key, while I don't know if it's necessary, it
wouldn't hurt to renumber the remaining keys so that they are sequential.
They are numbered in hexadecimal (base 16), so they'll go from 001 to 00F,
010 to 01F, and so on. If you decide to not renumber, go back and select
the "Criteria" key and edit the Order key to remove the entry from that list
as well. If you do decide to renumber, make sure you remove the last entry
from the Order key to that the actual list of blocked senders and the Order
key are in agreement. I don't _know_ that this is necessary, but it's good
insurance.
