Can anyone tell me why when using Windows XP one of my
computers has spell check for mail and the others don't.
I used the same disk for all 3 computers. I check the
options and there is spell check for the one that works
and no spell check for the other two.

Anyone have a clue what to do?

you prob have a spell checker installed on the one which is capable of spell
checking...the other(s) don't....

Outlook Express uses the spellchecker from MS Office or Works.
If you don't have one of them installed, you don't get a spellchecker in OE.
There is a free 3rd party one that works OK. You can
download it from

Does the one machine with the working spell-checking have
Microsoft Office or Word installed?

Outlook Express, as you're apparently just discovering, has never
had any spell-checking capabilities of its own. Instead, it relies
upon the presence of certain specific other Microsoft applications,
such as the Office Suite, Word, or the Works _Suite_ (which includes
Word, not the regular Works). There are also some 3rd-party
shareware/freeware solutions available at any of the many shareware
sites on the Internet

Spell Magic seems well thought-of, though I haven't tried it myself:
