Seems a reasonable question in microsoft.public.windowsxp.general to me.

I find the simplest way is to navigate to where the files are stored and
backup the entire Outlook Express folder.

Do the following:
1. Open My Computer
2. Select main drive - usually C
3. Open Documents and Settings folder
4. Open your user name folder (might be your
name/user/owner/administrator/??)
5. Open Local Settings folder (if you don't see this folder do the
following - select Folder Options from the Tools menu - on the View tab
under Hidden fiels and folders slect Show hidden files and folders - click
Apply - click OK - you should now see the Local Settings folder)
6. Open Application Data folder.
7. Open Identities folder
8. You should now see a folder with a name that is a series of numbers and
letters in { brackets. Open it.
9. Open Microsoft folder
10. There should be your Outlook Express folder - open it to check the
contents. Then back up the whole Outlook Express folder by chosen means.

Hope this helps.

The OP is, of course, free to ask his question wherever he
likes. The point is that there is an excellent OE newsgroup.
This is where he will find most of the OE experts. Take your
own reply: While it gives full details about ***saving*** OE
files, it falls short on how to ***recover*** them on the
new PC. I am sure this essential part of the process would
have been covered in an OE newsgroup.
