outlook express

I have a problem whereby everytime I restart xp home sp2 the pop server is
changed from pop.XXX.net to 127.0.0.1.
I have disabled system restore and rebooted then changed the pop server
again but when it restart back comes 127.0.0.1. I have also searched the
registry and cannot find anything in there to relat to 127.0.0.1. it is not
the router settings. there is no spyware or virus on the machine. has anyone
come across this problem before or can someone suggest how to put it right.

This behavior usually means that you have an anti-virus software program, with email scanning enabled or anti-spam software running on the system. This email scanning option is usually redundant and simply appears to add value to the anti-virus program.
