I had the same problem for several days, thought it was my ISP, then it
suddenly
cleared up. Anyone know of any problems w/Outlook Express and outgoing mail?

Me, as well. That's why I was curious about the error code. My issue
turned out to be a bad server on my ISP (in spite of their denials).
Heirloom, old and it could happen

Sounds like OE is opening but not going to host server. I just had that
happen. Culprit was Norton's Firewall settings. I deleted all Norton
program firewall rules and had it automatically reset as programs were being
used. Fixt it.

On my previous post the easiest way to find out if your firewall is the
problem is to disable it and see if you can then connect to OE email.

Darrell!!!
I remember you, now! It was my father that was the first to aerial
refuel the Hustler on its' around-the-world speed record.
Heirloom, old and just a tad OT

Small world, huh? Is your dad still around? (We're all getting a little
long in the tooth).

No, sorry to say. However, I still have some of the memorabilia from the
event. I thought I had sent info re: such to your website. My email isn't
that hard to unmunge if you wish further details.
Heirloom, old and keeping it

I had the same problem and finally put the pop3 address in both the send and
receive options. Don't know whay, but it cleared it right up!
