.....and Norton is winning!
My computer is a little over a year old. It came with a free year of Norton
Antivirus and I never had any problems. But when the year subscription ran
out I went on line and paid for Norton Internet Security 2005.... the big
package with all the bells and whistles. But now it has waged war against
my machine and taken Outlook Express hostage!
This is what its doing: After a reboot I will check my email and Outlook
Express will connect to the server and download my email no problem. But
after the initial download it will attempt to connect to the server but time
out after 60 seconds saying "Your POP3 Server has not responded in 60
seconds. Would you like to wait?" The Internet Explorer works perfectly
and the newsgroups work perfectly (I use Outlook Express for my newsgroups
but I go through yProxy). After my computer has been up and running for
about 5 minutes another box will appear stating, "Either there is no default
mail client or the current mail client can not fulfill the messaging
request. Please run Microsoft Outlook and set it as the default mail
client."
I don't want to use Outlook. I want to use Outlook Express.
I don't know if Norton has something to do with this or if its just a
coincidence but it all started happening about the same time I upgraded.
Any suggestions?
Thanks!
