outlook express - spelling error

Whenver I try and do a spell check I get the following
error: "An error occured while the spelling was being
checked." I get a similar error if I try and send the
email with spell check on. It says,"The spell check on
this document was halted. Do you want to send anyway?"

I am running verion 6.00

That is because OE does not have built-in spell checking. The option is
there but, as far as I know, it needs MS Office installed and the
dictionary copied to the OE directory in order to use the spell checker.
Am I right? And Somebody please post the filename, because I can't seem to
remember it.

You need something like MS Word installed because Outlook Express uses the
spell checker from this. Search on the web for a file called "csapi3t1.dll".
You then need to put it
in the folder "Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Proof". You might
need to restart Windows but the spell checker should work now.

OE will use the spell checker in Word, Excel or Works Suite. If one of the
applications is installed then OE should use the spell checker without doing
anything else.

dictionary.
