I'm using Outlook Express 6 to read news groups.
What does it mean when one of the news group title turns red in the folders
list? I've searched help for 'red' and 'folders' but nothing popped up.
Thanks, Don

It means you have set one or messages to keep a check on. Or you clicked in
the area below the spectacles at the top of the messages column (next to the
subject heading). If you click the spectacles you should see which you have
set.

| Sounds like you have a "rule" set up, check tools : message rules.

You've marked a message as being watched and a reply has been posted to it.
Sort all the messages in the group by the column with the spectacles on it
and look for the marked ones.

It means you have threads in the newsgroup which have a "Watch" set on them.
The Newsgroup will turn red when there are new articles in one or more
threads.

To set a "Watch" on an article, click to the left of an article (in the
column with the spectacle icon) in a thread you want to keep track of. A
spectacle icon will appear where you clicked. To remove a "Watch", click in
the same place until the spectacles go away. With your first click, a
little circle with a slash through it will appear. When it does, click
again, and it will disappear. When there is no icon in that column, the
"Watch" will be removed.

Thanks for the explanation. It sounds like a pretty handy feature.

It is, when it chooses to work. As it is, it works kind of intermittently.
