Why is it that I can connect to my hotmail account via internet explorer, but
the connection via outlook express often reports "server busy" or simply
won't connect on a "send/receive command?" Sometimes, the mail shows up
later as if outlook has a mind of its own about when/if it will connect.

Outlook Express questions should be asked in an Outlook Express group. This
group is for the support of Microsoft Outlook (a different application)>
For Outlook Express questions try one of the support options at:
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=fh;[ln];oex&product=msall

Having said that, Hotmail in Outlook and Outlook Express is no longer
supported. If you have used it previously then you *might* be able to access
it for a limited time. The alternative now is for a paid subscription. I use
MSN Premium and the Outlook Connector with Outlook for Hotmail.

Thank's for the info BillR, being a new user I was wondering if having the
full program is adoptable with express. Should I stay with what I have and
learn how to use it.<mlcsr>

"full program" is a bit of a misnomer since the two products aren't really
related. It really depends on your needs if you use OE or Outlook. I
personally prefer outlook even if you don't use the Calendar, Tasks etc. If
all you want is email then OE suffices.
Email skills can be transferred to Outlook in some ways.
