Michael

In our OutLook Express E-mail client, when we go to switch
identities it takes a while before switching identities or
sometimes it doesn't switch at all,it takes us back to the
desktop, this problem began last week when we installed a
Windows update.

Also how do I go about installing a firewall with a
network? (I have the network working thru a router) We
have tried to install a firewall in the past but it was
preventing use of our network.

Another problem we are having is with our scanner, when we
try to scan something the printer kicks it out and doesn't
allow the scanner to work at all, is there a work around
to this problem where we can use both without having to
reinstall?

I would appreciate a responce,

Michael Valdez

Hi Michael,

Per part 1: If you have not installed the Cumulative Update for OE:
There are currently two workarounds and one option:

Click on File/Identities/Manage Identities and remove the
checkmark in "Use this identity when starting a program".

You Cannot Switch Identities in Outlook Express After You Install Windows XP
SP1
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=KB;EN-US;q329084&

Another option/workaround:

Before changing identity, Press F1. The Outlook Express "Help" window will
open (and leave it running in the background).

Q330994 now supercedes Q331923 as the current Cumulative Update for Outlook
Express 6.0 SP-1: http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=330994. OP may have
already installed it but since he posts from the web-interface, I can't
tell.

There's a bug in Q330994 affecting Switch Identities (*again*!) and until a
fix is released, users should see this page for workarounds:
