i have this error message when i try to open OE -MSOE.DLL-cannot be found OE
may not be installed correctly.
I am using windows xp and have tried the following tips-
rebooting,removing/adding OE several times, deleting all Msoe files to the
recycle bin,run sfc/scannow(although not sure what i was meant to do with it,
tried Google for other hints but they either want money, need email address
for support, which is no use to me or are really confusing-regedit this or run
this miracle fix programme. from what i can make out the problem seems to be
a corrupt file, i just need it fixed asap with in the easiest to understand
instructions please please please can anyone help
many thanks

In order to get Outlook Express experts (and I certainly am not one of them,
sorry) to look at your problem, post in an Outlook Express newsgroup such
as:

microsoft.public.windows.inetexplorer.ie6_outlookexpress

When you post there, following these guidelines:
http://www.dts-l.org/goodpost.htm

I'm not saying this to hurt your feelings, but your post is very difficult
to read and you want to make it easy for people to help you.

This message is often a 'red herring' the problem being elsewhere entirely.

Check the mailstore for damaged files, or files with wrong permissions
preventing them being opened for writing. Or, just move the files out into a
temporary folder, and OE will create a new mailstore next time it's started.
If this works, the problem is in the mailstore.

BTW the mailstore is at:
c:\Documents snd Settings\{username}Local Settings\Application
Data\identities\{huge number}\Microsoft\Outlook Express\
and consists of .DBX files.

To see this in Explorer you may have to turn on "Show hidden files.."

i couldn,t find the mailstore but i think i may have not done the search
properly i typed in docments\settings\susan. then i tried local
settings\applications i take it i have done it wrong? sorry for being so
clueless but your help is much appreciated
thanks

hi Ian, i think i have finally located the .dbx files, however i followed
another persons advice on the web and deleted them 2 days ago so they are now
in my recycle bin and just to make it more complicated i have Norton and cant
find it!!
