As of yesterday, each time I attempted to access one of my newsgroups in OE
following a reboot, I received a message that I had no connection to the
internet.
I had the options to work offline or to retry. When I clicked retry, the
connection was made and all was fine. However, this extra step is a bit of
a nuisance. Thus, I posted the problem to this group and several fine folks
recommended the following: Tools-Accts-News-Properties-Connection. At that
point, I was to remove the check mark beside "Always connect..." However,
there was no checkmark there. Interestingly, I decided to place a checkmark
there and to connect via the LAN. I rebooted and then connected directly to
my newsgroups without the annoying message. As a sidenote, I still have no
checkmark beside
"Always connect..." in the mail acct. and it works fine. In essence, I seem
to have discovered a workaround to this newsgroup problem. I was just
wondering if anyone has any insights as to what happened here and any
suggestions as to how to get the newsgroups to connect directly without the
checkmark in the indicated location. Thanks for your assisatance and have a
great Fourth!!!
