I recently set up my already existing email accounts onto
my new computer. Although I never had a problem before,
I can no longer send out emails. I get the following
error message:

"An unknown error has occurred. Subjet "test email",
Account: 'pop.earthlink.net',
Server: 'smtpauth.earthlink.net, Protocol: SMTP, Port:
25, Secure (SSL):No, Error number 0x800cc0B"

I use a Linksys Etherfast Wireless AP + Cable/DSL Router
with 4 Port Switch. I've found some info referring to
adjusting the MTU settings but I want to be very sure
that is/is not the problem before attempting to use that
fix.

Anybody out there have a solution?

(assuming a typo)

0x800CCC0B BUSY Server or maildrop is busy.

This would indicate that the problem is on Earthlink's end. However...

This page
http://support.earthlink.net/mu/1/psc/img/walkthroughs/windows_9x_nt/email/oe_6.0/8410.psc.html
suggests your SMTP server is simply 'smtp.earthlink.net', not
'smtpauth.earthlink.net'.

appreciate your help!

Under the smtp (send) set up menu, I believe there is an "activation" or "authority" option to click. These may not be the correct terms but there is a step on the screen which is totally unnatural to perform before you can send.

I had the same problem, lower your MTU in the configuration of the wireless router to 1400. Try again. Keep on lowering by units of 100 until it works
