Outlook Express as default

We have OfficeXp that was upgraded from Office97. The
Excell product uses Outlook Express - which we want.
However, Word insists on using Outlook. When we set the
defaults to Outlook Express and apply they are reset to
Outlook. How do you get Word to use Outlook Express?
 
If you haven't tried this give it a shot:

If you right click on Internet Explorer and go to properties

Click on the programs tab

Go to E-mail and select Outlook Express. This sets the e-mail on everything
default to Outlook Express or which ever you wish to select.
