This is the second try at posting this thread. After I write the thread and
send it my page freezes up.
Here goes the question: Will OE ever adopt junk mail filters like Firefox
has done?

I sure hope not! Don't you find Microsoft large enough? Microsoft want us to
use Outlook.

You can successfully add your own to OE by adding SpamPal, which is free.

SpamPal? I'll take a look at it.
Thanks,
Bob

I'm not at all impressed by SpamPal. I have used it almost all day, and it
has not detected one bit of spam, and I've gotten a lot of it.
It looks like I can put a website on the "Black List", but usually the
whole web site URL is not in the return address. So, how do I enter the spam
URL into the "Black List"?
In Firefox I can highlight an e-mail, and designate it as spam, and it will
go to the Junk folder the next time it accesses my computer.
How can I 'train' SpamPal to do this?
BOB

I tried SpamPal for several days, but as far as I can tell, it is not
effective.
I'll tell you why. I started a "Black List" of e-mail addresses. Then on
several occasions when I pasted an e-mail address into the "BlackLIst" I got
a message saying that that e-mail address has already been added to the
"Blacklist".
If those e-mail addresses are in the "Blacklist", why did the e-mails from
those e-mail addresses appear in my "Inbox" again?
Bob

I haven't really had a chance to look into it more, my I have the same
problem (when using the news component of outlook express)

Use a disposable email address for webpages, purchases, other. Dont
publish your real email address.

Thanks to all who answered.
The solution here is either to wait for Windows new e-mail program, get an
effective spam filtering program, or use an e-mail server which has effective
spam filtering.
Bob

The way I use isn't listed, and is far more effective than those you give.

Read Plato's posting again. It's the way I use- with the addition of not
using your real email address when posting in newsgroups.

Compared to:
Your 1st way- no waiting for the next program
Your 2nd and 3rd ways- Effective spam filter not needed in the same way- you
aren't giving your address for the spammers to harvest. You may still need a
filter but you get less spam to be filtered if they can't harvest your
address in the first place.

Thanks,
As I told Plato, I don't need another e-mail address.
For now, I guess I'll just have to delete-delete-..................
