I was compacting my folders and it completed fine. I closed the
application and when I reopened it, all my folders and mail messages
were not there. I looked in the document admin/ local settings / key
name/microsoft outlook directory and I see them there but outlook is
not READING them.

I created a new folder called TEST and its creating it in the proper
directory where all my DBX files are stored but somehow express is not
reading any of the 50 other DBX files..

I've tried renaming my folder inbox to old and restarting express..
Same issue.. I tried to import and I receive the specified message
store could not be opened. It maybe in use by outlook express..No
messages can be found in this folder or another app is running that
has the required files open. Please select another folder or try
closing applications that may have it open. I'm in outlook express
doing this..

I can see my DBX files, not read only and they just won't appear any
more on my folders list. I noticed there are other folders that never
existed before like calendar, contacts, journal, notes and tasks.
They were not there before...

Outlook express is created like 1 files.. Deleted1.DBX etc.... versus
reading the DELETED folder which is bigger and exists..

Any help.. thanks

This newsgroup is for support of Outlook 97, 98, 2000 & 2002 from the Office
family for Windows PCs. For Outlook Express (OE) support try posting in one
of
these newsgroups:
microsoft.public.inetexplorer.ie4.outlookexpress for OE 4.x
microsoft.public.windows.inetexplorer.ie5.outlookexpress for OE 5.x
http://support.microsoft.com/newsgr...blic.windows.inetexplorer.ie55.outlookexpress
for OE 5.5x
http://support.microsoft.com/newsgr...ublic.windows.inetexplorer.ie6_outlookexpress
for OE 6.x
http://support.microsoft.com/newsgr...;newsgroupsmicrosoft.public.internet.mail.mac
for the Macintosh version of OE
http://support.microsoft.com/newsgr...ess.mac&SLCID=US&sd=GN&id=fh;en-us;newsgroups

If those groups aren't carried on the news server that's carrying this group
try using msnews.microsoft.com (MS's public news server that's the source
for all the microsoft.public newsgroups). The links under the newsgroup
references are for use with MS's web newsreader (not exactly the best way to
post but it works for some people)

Also a good source of Outlook Express info can be found here:

Post all replies to the group to keep the discussion intact. Due to
the (insert latest virus name here) virus, all mail sent to my personal
account will be deleted without reading.

After searching google.groups.com and finding no answer, AAZ asked:
