Hi! I have to do a System Restore to get my computer back to "Out of the Box" status. Does anyone no how to backup my Outlook Express files? I was able to backup my address book, but am not able to find my Inbox, Sent Files, etc. The Help in my Outlook Express 6.0 is telling me to find the *.dbx files, but I don't find any on my computer. Does anyone else have Windows XP and Outlook Express 6.0 who can tell me where to find these files? Thanks for any help you can offer!

Backup and Restore OE

BTW, you'll find much better OE help here:
microsoft.public.windows.inetexplorer.ie6_outlookexpress (for OE 6), or
an OE help website such as http://insideOE.tomsterdam.com. If you're
accessing the Microsoft newsgroups through the MS Product Support
Services "Community Newsgroups" web interface, click
http://communities.microsoft.com/newsgroups/default.asp?icp=InternetExplorer
to get to the Internet Explorer groups, then click the plus sign next to
your version of IE to see the link to the Outlook Express group for that
version number. Good luck!

You've already gotten an answer about backup. I just wanted to
add that System Restore is *not* a tool that will get you back to
""Out of the Box" status."

Right click on your Inbox and select properties, that will show you the path
to the dbx files. Make sure to change your view in Window Explorer to
include system and hidden files.

Dear Debbie, I have the same problem. It is incredible that no clear backup method seems to exist. It looks like that MS, for one purpose or another, prevents OE files from backing up. I see that the list of troubles with backup of OE files is endless. Is MS unaware of the value of a backup? Are they reading these discussions at all? Why don't they say something? Jan.
