Hi there,

Outlook 2003 with latest updates.

It started about 3/4 days ago ...
I close Outlook and when I try to run it again, nothing happens. After
shutting down my machine, Outlook starts with a message that Outlook didn't
shut down properly and give me the option to start in Safe mode.

Is there a way to fix this?

Outlook doesn't terminate properly to begin with. Something is holding it
open.

Some common reasons why Outlook will not shut down completely when you click

either the X or Exit:

1. PDA synchronization software with your PDA in the cradle.

2. WinFax Pro (especially 10.02 in Outlook 2003) - contact their support

for an alleged fix.

3. Franklin-Cover Plan Plus!

4. COM Add-ins.

5. Mail reminder add-ins that keep a stub of Outlook open in the background

to check for new mail and fire reminders.

6. Anti-virus/firewall programs that are set to scan incoming and outgoing

mail.

7. Some versions of IntraVnews RSS Reader.

Use above to check for the cause. Use Knockout to ensure Outlook is
terminated. Ensure you shut down Outlook completely before shutting down
your PC. If you have installed a recent ad-din then that might be the cause.
