Outlook does not check for new messages

I'm a new user of Outlook 2003. I'm also baffeled by not being able to get Outlook to check for new messages automatically. I have to manually click on the send/receive button. No other settings will correct this.
E-mails I send out are sent immediately.

What automatic polling interval did you set and how?

The send/receive settings I set are
Setting for group "all accounts
Include this group in send/receive (F9
Schedule an automatic send/receive every 1 minut
when outlook is online and offlin

I've tried all different choices to see what would happen but nothing I set seems to allow outlook 2003 to download new messages without me actually clicking on send/receive or hitting F9
I must be missing some step. Outlook 2000 always checked for new messages automatically

1 minute? Come on.
Let's start with a realistic interval.

Why isn't 1 minute realistic, if you're troubleshooting / trying to
make the program work?

I have the same issue; O2K - O2K2 worked fine in this regard. O2K3
will not do it. I started with the default 10 minute interval, tried
again with 5 min., and also emulated Dawn here trying to see if 1
minute would make a difference. I also adjusted the offline settings
to see if that would change anything.
Nothing does.

What account type?
What connection type?
Are you certain you aren't set to Work Offline?
If not, then create a new Send/Receive group from scratch. Yours may be
corrupt.

Mr. Valentine, All I've been able to ascertain is that I'm not alone with this Outlook 2003 problem. Thank you khayman for trying to help get Mr. Valentine on the shortest route to our request for an answer. I don't consider him a true MVP (Most valuable professional) I've checked other sites for answers as well and all my settings are correct for the task I'm asking outlook 2003 to do.

Thank you for such kind words and the acknowledgement that MVP's take what
little precious time they have in their personal lives to try to help others
in this group and do so with no compensation.

You need to do your part. We cannot read minds. You posted no information
that would permit troubleshooting of your problem. I have asked the relevant
questions. You have answered none.

Done, no improvement. I even created new accounts, with no noticeable change.

Any other suggestions?

Thanks,

Khayman

Are you sure that the "Disable Scheduled Send/Receive" and "Work Offline"
options did not get checked by accident? Both can get selected easily
without your knowledge are the most frequent causes for this problem.
Have you checked that the correct connection type is set for the mail
account?
Was this a clean install of Outlook 2003 or an in place upgrade?

I've seen no reports that can repro this problem other than those above and
the two documented in the KB (312336 and 829168).
