Using Outlook 2003 for email, with SBS 2003, Microsoft Exchange Server.
Suddenly no email, send or receive since 11/30/04, notice in bottom right
corner of Outlook "disconnect". I can not seem to connect to mail server.
Did I download a hotfix or update that disrupted this? I have run
systemworks, lavasoft, diskclean, defrag, antivirus, etc. I have internet
connection, just not the email.
Any suggestions would be welcomed!, Thanks Sandy

What happens when you use file, connect [to mail server] or uncheck file,
work offline?

Can you ping the Exchange server by name?
Is everyone else on your network working fine?

Hi,
yes from cmd I can ping server, no problem. All else is working fine, have
internet connections, etc, just can not send or receive email through
Outlook 2003. Evidently not connecting to mail server. I have shut down the
DSL, firewall, etc and restarted, not only server, but workstation (where my
email is). What about a hotfix or MS update? I am still on SP1 due to some
issues with SP2 and some of my software.
Sandy

Diane,
If I go to Outlook, go to file (upper left) there is NO connect (to mail
server), work ofline is already unchecked. Suggestions!
Thanks
Sandy

Hold down the control button and right click on the Outlook icon in your
system tray - select connection status. If you select "reconnect" does it
work?

Post all replies to the group to keep the discussion intact. Due to
the (insert latest virus name here) virus, all mail sent to my personal
account will be deleted without reading.

After furious head scratching, ST asked:

Hi Milly,
Hold down control button and right click on Outlook in system tray - there
is NO select connection status. I also as posted above do not have a
connection option under FILE.
So what am I missing, and what needs to be done next???
Thanks
Sandy

Are you using cached exchange or classic exchange? Do you have File, Cached
Exchange menu?

then you should have the Cached Exchange menu on the File menu and the
connection dialog on the tray icon - place the mouse over the tray
(notification area in Winxp's terminology) and hold control, then right
click. The normal menu should now have a Connection Status menu.

Also - did you try making a new profile? Control panel, mail applet

Hi Diane,
Yes, if I go to File, I have the Cached Exchange menu.
All along the bottom of my screen, Launch, area where I have open internet
or programs and off to the right I have placed the mouse and held control,
and right clicked. No connection
status appears.
No I have not made a new profile.
