outlook CPU usage soars to 99% and stays

i was told that there are some of the conflicts or
features redundency between Norton antivirus 2004 and
outlook 2003, together they seem to keep double checking
for possible worm and virus including adware and spyware
(new norton features), after send and receive computer
slows down dramatically - the cpu usage goes up to 99% and
stays that way until after outlook 2oo3 is shut down.
anyone knows what going on or am i supposed to turn off
all the auto feature of norton antivirus or is it
SOMETHING else!
computer: new ibm t40 (pentium M1.5, ram 512bm, 40gb)

Try turning off the AV checking in Norton and see if that improves the CPU
usage.

I have the same problem; rebooted with Norton AV off and problem remains.
The symptoms seems to occur either when you SEND a message to your outbox
after composition (even if it does not go out) or if during a send and
receive, an email message actually goes out or is received. From that i
deduce maybe it has something to do with the way email is sent or received,
and whatever that is triggers this 100% usage until you exit Outlook2003.
Also in my case, the Find and Advance Find does not work, and ive noticed
that whenever either is initiated the 100% cpu usage is envoked. Ive
removed all add ins as a test.

Any thoughts?
 
i disabled some of the norton AV features and the problems
disappear and hope to stay that way. Try disable ms
office plug in in norton av.
