Outlook is doing some crazy things and not letting me do
other things. Is there a way to delete it, without losing
all contact info, and re-install it?

Thanks for your help.

I'm not in a Network envirnment. Just me and my computer
here at home. I'm not sure how to do what you are
directing me to do. I'm not all that computer literate.
Could you please tell me the steps to accomplish it?

Thanks

Ok, let's see if I can remember all. Two ways.
1 - When you install Outlook, it creates a folder and a file in C:\Documents
and Settings\"yourname"\Local Settings\Applications\Microsoft\Outlook\...
By default the file is labeled Outlook (data file). Your mail is saved
there. Now, you should change the name of this file i.e. oldOutlook (when
Outlook is not opened otherwise you won't be able to do so).
Reinstall Outlook, and it will recreate in this folder the same file, it
will be empty with the exception of one note that is automatically sent
everytime Outlook is installed. Close Outlook, get rid of the new file and
rename the old file, oldOutlook, back to Outlook.
2 - You should always back up your files, mail is no exception. Open
Outlook, click on Inbox, delete whatever you don't want and is not useful (in
otherwords, keep your mail box clean) Click on File, Archive, Here you select
the folder you want to export., what the heck save everything, Highlight
Personal Folders. In the Archive items oldet than: click on Today.
The Archive File: should be pointing to: "C:\Documents and
Settings\"yourname"\Local Settings\Applications\Microsoft\Outlook\archive.pst"
Click on Ok, and voila, your mail will be archived to that file.
Now you can reinstall Outlook. If you encounter problems with the first
step, that is ok, you still have a back up of all your files in the
archived.pst file.
to make it short, visit Microsoft and look for the instructions on how to
view archived files. It is easy and they explain it better than I could.
Good luck
