Outlook Contacts not deleting

This is very unusual. In Outlook's contacts I delete some email contacts. I
then start to compose and for example: I will start with the character D and
up will pop all these people that I have deleted. When I go to look in the
contacts they are not in there. I would like to know where are they coming
from when I have deleted them. Strange.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thank you.

In MS Outlook, these names are stored in what is know as a 'nickname' file.
Deleting the contact entry will NOT remove the corresponding entry in the
nickname file. That's why the names still 'pop up' in a new e-mail even
after deleting the contact record.

If you search your hard disk for the hidden file with an extension of 'NK2'
you should find it (it's in your profile folders). However - this file is
not a text file and CANNOT be edited directly. The only tool I know of to
edit/modify this file is from a company called DCS. The webpage is
www.ingressor.com and the tool is called 'Ingressor Desktop Edition' (its
about $35.00).

If all you want to do is reset the nickname file, simply exit MS Outlook,
delete/rename the existing nickname file and restart MS Outlook. When you
enter a new e-mail address, it will automatically be added to the nickname
file. If the file doesn't exist, the nickname file is generated upon
launching MS Outlook.

Cheers!
