1) If I have Outlook (and other apps) open, and I select the Show Desktop
icon in the QuickLaunch taskbar, it closes Outlook, but no other apps; the
other apps are just minimized. 2) If I have Outlook open and then select the
Outlook icon in the QuickLaunch taskbar, it closes Outlook.

Are there some settings I need to activate/de-activate?

Are you sure it doesn't just minimise Outlook to the System Tray? That can
be what minimise does with Outlook 2003 and all programs are minimised when
you select Show Desktop.
You might need to set the system tray to always show the Outlook icon to see
it.

Hello,
I have the same problem: when clicking "show desktop", Outlook closes. I don't know whether it's minimized to the system tray, but it certainly is coming off of the taskbar, where I want it to stay! What's going on and how do I stop this?

Thanks,
Fritz

Answer

Hi Everyone,

I found the answer.

Outlook has an icon in the task bar (near the time) and if you right click on this there is a 'feature' called Hide When Minimised. Untick this option and Outlook will no longer disappear when minimised.
