My .pst file was recovered from a computer that went bad,
and I've recently configured a new computer with my
Outlook file. Everything works fine, except that when I
do any of the following: try to create a distribution
list, try to select email recipients via the "To: Cc:
Bcc:" buttons, or try to create an address book, none of
my contacts appears (except one, Erin).
The only option on the "Show Names from the" field
is "Outlook Address Book". I don't have subfolders in my
Outlook Today, Contacts folder, and I don't have any
address books.
However, when I click on the "Contacts" shortcut button,
open my contacts folder, or link one contact to anther,
they are there.
This seems to be connected to another folder I found in
my folder list (top level, just below Archive Folders)
called Personal Folders. Somehow, there was one contact,
Erin, in that folder. The Personal Folders directory
seemed to be a mirror of the Outlook Today directory, but
all the subfolders were empty, except for Erin's contact.
I deleted Erin's contact, and disabled the folder
(deleting it didn't seem to be an option). I looked at
the directory that stores my .pst file and saw that there
was a large Outlook.pst file and a tiny Outlook1.pst
file. I just deleted the small one, but it hasn't
affected my problem.
Now, I'm wondering if I will cause other confusions by
having deleted it (as it seems to have been in use
somewhat given that I was finding Erin's name).
How can I set my contacts pointer to the right place, and
make sure I'm not making any new problems by deleting the
other .pst file?
Thank You!
