When I click the calendar icon at the foot of the favourites pane it does not display the caledar - which until two days ago it always did. To display the calendar I now have to right click the calendar icon and open a new window. How can I change it back?

What do you mean the "Favorites pane" -- are you talking about the Outlook
Bar? What version of Outlook is this?

Hi Jocelyn

I am using Outlook 2003 from the Office Professional Edition.

When I'm using Outlook down the left hand side is the pane headed Mail then underneath 'Favorite Folders', then 'All Mail Folders'.

At the foot is another bar marked 'Mail' with icons beneath it ie calendar, contacts, tasks, notes, dolder list etc.

When I clicked on the calendar icon the window would change into the diary page with two months displayed down the lef hand pane. The main pane would be the current day divided into time slots. This no longer happens.

All that happens is the head of the pane states Calendar but apart from my undread mail folder and beneath 'open a shared calendar' the main window is just the undread mail pane.

To make the diary page appear I have to right click on the calendar icon and click the option 'open in new window.'

Chris

That's very odd. The Navigation Pane is what you're talking about (the
section on the left). I'm not sure if there's a way to reset it. Did you
re-use a profile from an earlier version when you installed Outlook 2003, or
was it a fresh profile?

Check your calendar view - enable the Advanced toolbar by right clicking on
the toolbar and select advanced. In the dropdown, make sure you have the
view you want selected.

I've got the advanced tool bar showing but am not sure where you mean me to check ie what should I be looking for in the dropdown?

This version was installed in August 2003 when I updated my hard drive. It has worked perfectly since then. Just don't understand why I have to open the calendar in a new window when before it would simply show up by clicking on the icon.

Hmm. Well, a couple more things I can suggest that you try...

1) Try starting Outlook once with the /ResetFolders switch and/or the
/CleanViews switch. If you need help using Outlook command line switches,
look here: http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;296192

2) Try running the Inbox Repair Tool against your .PST file to see if it
finds any errors. Search your drive for a file called scanpst.exe and run
it.
