I have a small business and think it's time to set up a proper contact
database. My needs will be pretty simple and conventional as well. I now
use current versions of IE and Outlook Express for browsing and e-mail on
several well maintained W2K-based machines.

Where can I go learn very basic information for using Outlook and also how
it ties into a contact manager program like ACT? I'm really starting from
scratch here. Beyond looking at ads for these two products, I came here to
get a sense (or consensus) from users as to how they are used in the real
world. I've searched Google, but found nothing useful. Any help would be
much appreciated.

A good book for learning the Office programs such as Outlook are the
Step-by-Step books by Microsoft Press. What version of Outlook are you
using? If you get the Outlook 2003 version it comes with Business Contact
Manager. Note the Business Contact Manager only works with a .pst file. In
other words if you use Outlook in combination with the Exchange Server you
can not use Business Contact Manager.
