Hi All, I use Outlook 2002 in Windows XP and lately, when I click on the
Quicklaunch icon for Outlook, it takes about 60 seconds or more for the
program to open. It could be because my Inbox currently has almost 2000
emails. Or it could be because the whole .pst file size is huge from having
saved and imported about 5 times. No matter how many times I have deleted,
then deleted the deletions and compacted, the file size of the .pst is
888,304kb in size.

I would like to backup this huge file and then start a new Outlook folder
that only contains 1) all my Contacts and 2) only the last yr. of my other
folders in Outlook (Inbox and all the subfolders). Is there any way to
accomplish this with some ease?

I don't expect this to be easy but I think the reason my .pst folder is so
large is because I've always imported everything. Now I'd just like to
import the last 12 months of info, is this possible?

Thanks for any ideas on this, if it is even possible......... katy

Do an archive from the File menu and archive all data that's 12 months old
or older to an archive file. Be aware that the archive function works off
the modified date of an item, so some items may not be archived even if they
appear to be 12 months old or older. You can always move those items to the
archive file manually.
