Outlook backup won't back up

I have long used the Outlook backup utility to backup my *pst file every time
I close out of Outlook. For the last few days, however, when I do this I get
the following error message:
"Cannot copy Outlook. The process cannot access the file because another
process has locked a portion of the file."
I'm running Outlook 2000 SP-3 on WinXP Media Edition 2005.
Any idea what causes this? How to fix it?
Thanks

G'Day Jauchart,

The message is very clear, the problem is identifying which
process has the file open.

After you get the message, backup has failed and Outlook
has closed run task manager. Examine the process list to
see if another copy of Outlook (OUTLOOK.EXE) is running
(multiple copies of Outlook can be run). If you see one you
will have to figure out what started it.

Have you recently installed any software (particularly an
Outlook AddIn like IncrediMail OR an AddIn for (say)
Word that might reference Contacts etc, but ANY software -
anti-virus etc).

Try closing EVERY open application, and then closing
Outlook.
