When an email is received with an attachment, is it possible to reply to the
sender, and have the attachment file name included inn the body of the
reply?

Outlook doesn't do that because it assumes that the person who sent you the
file already has it. What I do is forward the message instead of replying.

In earlier postings, there is advice that you can print a copy of the
message in text format, and it will show the name of the attachment in the
print-out.

However, what I would like to be able to do is have feature or script that
automatically included the name of each attachment in the body of the sent
message. That way if you copy the message into a log file, or help desk etc,
the message body retains the name of the original attachment, for later
reference.

Surely someone has solved this before!

Thanks Sue.

While forwarding includes the attachment with the message, what I am trying
to achieve is the inclusion of the attachment filename in the message. I
know that various Email systems (eg. Notes) include the file name at the end
of the message, in the format <<FileName>>, or similar.

The issue we have is that we send an email with attachment to a client, and
copy the email into our project log. It then requires us to type in the
filename - not a big deal, but annoying enough that people sometimes leave
it out.
