Outlook 2003 - Inbox arranged by 'From'. With a large mail box, it is very
easy to miss new mail when scrolling down, as it is identified only by bold,
same theme colour as other message headers.

This makes finding new mail much slower than necessary.

If new mail was a contrasting bold colour then it would be clearly obvious.
Having the option to select the colour would be best of course.

There's an easier way:

Sort the Inbox by Received in Descending order. This puts all new mail at the
top of the list.

Create new folders by category of mail, e.g, Friends, Family, Business, etc. Set
each folder's archive to suit your needs.

The only time you may need to sort by From is when you transfer the messages to
their applicable folder.

Keep your Inbox as lien as possible.

You can change the color of unread messages via Automatic Formatting. Go to
View | Arrange By | Current View | Customize Current View, and click the
Automatic Formatting button. Select Unread messages in the list of rules,
then click the Font button. There you can change the color of the font.
Click OK to close each of the dialog boxes.

Good suggestions, but the easiest thing is to just start using the "Unread
Mail" Search folder in the Navigation Pane. This folder shows all the unread
messages in your entire mailbox in one convenient location... :-)
