Outlook and Outlook Express both receiving email

Even though Outlook 2002 is default email client, computer
is receiving email in Outlook 2002 and Outlook Express.
The laptop is fully service and security patched for both
office and Internet Explorer. The default email client in
Internet Explorer is Outlook. Microsoft Messenger is not
running on this PC.
 
Delete your mail account settings in Outlook Express if you do not want to
receive mail in that program.

Post all replies to the group to keep the discussion intact. Due to
the (insert latest virus name here) virus, all mail sent to my personal
account will be deleted without reading.

After searching google.groups.com and finding no answer, Chris K asked:

Don't start Outlook Express and it won't receive mail.
