Outlook and a couple of other problems

I am running Windows XP Media Center Edition and can get to the internet with
no problem through IE6 and Windows Messenger..so I have connectivity. I can
NOT however, send or receive e-mail with either Outlook or Outlook Express.
One further complication is that the computer boots up with no problem,
however, when I "Restart" or "Turn Off" the sytem wll either not respond to
either command or WILL respond after two or three tries but often will hang
at the "Windows is Shutting Down" screen. The only way for it to complete
the process seems to either hit the 'escape" key, or when that fails the only
alternative is to press and hold the power switch. This computer has run
with absolutely no problems at all until last night when I went to "Turn
Off". This morning eveything booted up fine but NO e-mail can be sent or
recieved. Anyone out there have ANY idea what's going on here ? I have
never seen anything like this with any computer I have ever had.

Many thanks in advance,
MikeE

What version of Outlook? What happens when you try?

Hi Brian,

Thanks for jumping in here...my version of Outlook is 2002 w/ SP3 (Part of
the Office XP Pro suite) and I am running IE6. I have actually fixed the
problem by using System Restore. Never used it before but I'm here to tell
'ya "It works"...at least in this situation. I have NO idea what was causing
the problems I was having but it has now gone away...hopefully never to
return.

Many thanks,
MikeE
