Outlook always running

I must have set some option but don't know what. Whenever I open Outlook,
it already has all the mail in the inbox. And even though I haven't started
it, I
will occasionally get an alert that Outlook can't connect to server (when
there
is a DSL glitch) even though I didn't start it.

Is there some option I checked by accident???
