Hi there - using Outlook 98 with Exchange Server 5.5 (sp4) on an NT4
platform. One user has developed a problem whereby all the notes shown
within Outlook view seem to have the same date. Normally I wouldn't
bother too much as it's not a major issue, however when the user is a
Director I have to get it fixed asap as presumably it is 'Business
Critical'. Anybody ever seen this before or have any advice. The
Outlook issue I mean, not the Director.
Thanks in advance.

Is this the create or the modified date? An import and/or folder move of the
items can change these dates.

You can't change the modified or created dates. if the date is important,
don't rely on the time stamp, enter it in the note body.

Did he (or an admin) do an import/export? Move them to new folders? Open and
edit them? (even just adding a space to an open message changes the date).

Thanks for the very quick reply both of you. I asked the person in
question to clarify the situation with regard to your questions.
Here's the reply:

"I have 2 notes folders - one as a immediate subfolder of my mailbox
and the second a subfolder of the first. To the best of my knowledge I
haven't moved either since the subfolder was created many months ago;
neither have I done an import.Further I wonder how both the folder and
subfolder were affected"

"I do not think opening/resizing etc individual items is relevant in
this case because all 68 items in the two folders show exactly the
same date and time of modification."

So there we have it. User claims to have never meddled with the folder
/ items. I'm the Admin and I certainly never touched them. Honest.
This is the only user in our Organisation that this happens to. User's
mailbox is homed on our main Exchange server at our headquarters, but
user occasionally works at a local office on our WAN which has a
different server, all be it within the same Exchange site - I don't
think this would have any effect as her roaming profile is always
pointing to our main mail server.

Any further thoughts would be much appreciated.

Thanks again, Dunsyd
