Outlook 98 will connnect to my email service and say it is retrieving
messages. It says it is "receiving message xxx of 267" during the process.
Then two error messages are:
267 Message(s) could not be retrieved from the server. This usually happens
when teh connection to the server is lost due to server or network problems.
If the problem persists, contact your administrator.
AND
Internet Mail is not registered properly. Please re-install and try
again. (Account: 'SBC Global Mail', POP3 Server: 'pop.sbcglobal.yahoo.com',
Error Number: 0x800401540.

Other info: I can retrive all these messages from the account via Outlook
Express with the same 'pop.sbcglobal.yahoo.com' account set up. I have
already tried to fix by deleting my Outlook 98 mail account and re-adding it.
No benefit.

Using XP Home Operating System (upgraded from ME). Also I upgraded to
Computer Associaties eTrust Antivirus.

Have you set your timeout for the account to the maximum? IIRC, Outlook 98
had a limit of 10 minutes. Tools->Accounts->Properties->Advanced.

Post all replies to the group to keep the discussion intact. Due to
the (insert latest virus name here) virus, all mail sent to my personal
account will be deleted without reading.
