Hi ya'll!
I jsut upgraded to Outlook 2003. I was trying to get into the news reader
as we did on Outlook XP and found that I had to add the "Go to - News"
command to the Go to button. I followed the directions given in the help to
do that but don't see the "news" command in the list of commands to choose
from.

does anyone know another way to get to the news reader on Outlook 2003? Or
if not, I know there was a way to alter the shortcut to Outlook Express to
only open up as only the news reader. Does anyone remember what that is??

Thanks in advance

add /outnews or /newsonly to OE's command line.

Thanks, Diane. I was able to get it to take the switch, but it still opens
up OE with the email options. I thought it was supposed to open up OE as
the newsreader only...without the email options, just as if I opened it up
under Outlook? It still looks like it was opening after I just closed the
contacts window in OE.

I know it's a minor thing, but was just puzzled. Thanks!

Make sure you have the syntax correct for the shortcut path -- it should
look something like this:

"C:\Program Files\Outlook Express\msimn.exe" /newsonly

Note that the file path is in quotes because it contains spaces, and that
there is a space between the file path and the command line switch. (If you
already knew all this, my apologies :-) )

In

if you are sure you have the syntax right for the switch, then it's a bug.
We ran into it during one of the last beta builds and were told it was fixed
in RTM.
