Hi,

Rolled out Ex2k3 with OL2k3, half the clients are running Office 97/2k/XP.
So now some of the functionality is broken, as expected, but customer wants
Word being used for emails in Outlook. Has anybody discovered a hack or
anything to get this working - it's the only feature we require...

Thanks
Marek

There is no workaround. In order for Outlook to work with Word, versions
must match.

Nope - as the other reply states, your versions have to match to use Word as
email editor, do mail merges, send mail from other Office apps, etc. You
would need to uninstall Outlook 2003 and perhaps reinstall your older
version of Office.

However, OL2003 is SO much better than any previous version, it's probably
worth it. And I always disable Word as editor anyway - it's slower, more
bloated, and HTML alone will let you do basic formatting.

Strongly suggest you get this client off any version of Office older than
OL2002, anyway, as they're unsupported & have problems - note that OL97 was
buggy at release, doesn't support HTML mail anyway, etc.... plus, it's best
to keep all workstations running the same versions of Office.

the hack is to upgrade all of the suite. :)
