All of my emails now open in 'waves' -- that's the only way I can describe
it. The same happens in IE7 (such as just now when I opened this box, it
expands out)

It is as if I am watching a video with expanding images.

How can I make this stop? I'm getting sea-sick.

Thanks!!

Sounds like a video card effect to me. What type of video card do you use?

Hi Brian,

Thanks for the reply. I have a Hauppauge WinTV HVR-1600 NTSC/ATSC Combo.
The Device Manager says it is functioning properly. I do a lot of DVD's
(creating home movies), but don't recall changing any settings.

My thought was that this was a MS Update somewhere, because it simply "just
started doing this" and b/c I have Vista, I did have auto updates turned on.

Thanks again!

Because you don't recall changing settings doesn't mean that they didn't
change. It still sounds like a video card effect to me.

So, look at your update history and see if anything was applied around the
time of the behavior change. Just because you have Vista doesn't mean that
you must let updates install automatically. I always review updates and
research their effects before I allow Windows to apply them.

Ha! Yep, reviewed the history of the updates, but sometimes there were up to
10 in one day! Went through about a month's worth, and couldn't find "the
one"...so thought someone might know either (a) if in fact it was an update
or (b) if perhaps it was not an update issue but something else.

Thanks for trying to help me.

As a general rule, it's best to get video driver updates from the
manufacturer of your video card rather than from Microsoft Update.

Look in Control Panel and see if you have an applet specific for the card.
Otherwise, open the Display appley, select the Settings tab, and click
Advanced. Look for effects that may be possible to select.
