Outlook 2007: New items do not appear in Inbox

The navigation bar indicates that I have unread mail in my Inbox, but I
cannot see it in my view of the Inbox. I need to navigate away from Inbox to
another folder and then return to Inbox view (causing a refresh) in order to
be able to see the new mails. Very annoying and most user-unfriendly

I'm experiencing the same problem with a POP3 account too.

New messages don't show up until I click on another folder, then back
on Inbox.

That's been posted many times before. The most likely cause is the blocking
of UDP packets by your firewall. Add Outlook to the firewall exceptions
list.

I doubt it's UDP. I configure our firewall and there's been no change there.
The only change we've had is upgrading from Office 2003 to Office 2007. The
problem was definitely not happening on Office 2003. I see the problem every
time I access a frequently used folder.

can't explain exactly why this worked, but it may get you towards the answer...

I moved all the mail out of the folder having the problem (actually deleted
it) and then in the empty folder right-clicked, then selected "Filter". The
filter window has a "Clear All" button I pressed. I'm not sure what it
cleared, but that did it.

I found a fix for mine.

I was using Outlook 2007 on XP running the PST on my own computer, NOT thru
Exchange server....

Here is what I did. Click Tools>Trust Center>Add-ins.
Under Com-Add-ins
Click the Add-ins you are not using, click the Go Button, & uncheck each
item you are not using. I unchecked Google Search & AVG, I am not sure what
item did it for me.

Also under Exchange Clent Extensions, uncheck the items there as well you
are not using.

I was able to leave the PDF one in there & get my outlook working again.
