When opening a Word 2007 document from an email, view it only - no revisions
are made, and then close the document, I am prompted to save the document.
Can this be changed in a setting?

You can open the mail directly from the Reading Pane instead of opening the
message in its own window first and then the attachment.

That said, you can also force Outlook to always open attachments in
Read-Only mode via the registry.
See http://www.msoutlook.info/question/175

So, if the attachment is opened from the Reading pane, I will not get the
message to save changes to the attachment when closing the attachment?
