Exactly what happens when you try?

I have the same problem but don't see how any of the questions got fixed. I
am new to this and haven't figured out how to work this site.

I'll ask the same question of you that I asked the OP: exactly what happens
when you try? What type of account?

I have the same problem. I have been working on it all day (literally) with
my email provider, and we have tried every permutation and combination of
settings. All of us finally concluded that it is a problem with Outlook.
What happens is that email simply won't be sent out of the outbox. It sits
there, and the server tries to send it but it won't go. Eventually it times
out.

I checked on the help page in Outlook and there are a number of posting
since mid-Sept. for this same problem. but with no solutions. Thus, I am
wondering if Microsoft changed something around mid-Sept. I have been away
and my computer sent perfectly when I left, and when I returned it won't send
and neither will the other computer in my office and they are not networked -
very strange!

And you, too, have not described exactly what you have tried so we might be
able to suggest other things to try, nor have you stated your Outlook
version or what type of account you're using. You have not described the
text of any errors you get nor provided any information that can be used to
diagnose the problem. The first thing you should do is uninstall your
antivirus program, to eliminate one variable and to make sure Outlook is an
allowed program in your firewall so there's no networking impediment to the
mail traffic.
