I recently had a new motherboard and hard drive installed - and re-installed
Office 2003. The programs i.e. Word and Excel work fine, however my Outlook
does not - whenever I click on same it gives me an error message, then I have
to start it in safe mode. I have uninstalled and reinstalled three times -
was told that the new hard drive may not be compatible with 2003 and that I
would have to purchase Office 2007. This does not make sense to me - any
further information would be helpful.

Hard drive incompatible with Outlook? Nonsense!
Post the exact wording of the error message to the Outlook forum.

Outlook failed to start correctly last time.......starting outlook in safe
mode.....

I can get to Microsoft Outlook through webmail- and it will start in safe
mode - but none of this makes sense to me! If I can start in safe mode and
go through my webmail why isn't there an easy solution to this problem? I
was told by a DELL rep that there may be a "patch" but it is certainly not an
on-line choice - and of course I was told by Microsoft that it would cost
$49.95 to repair the problem.....your thoughts and insight are certainly
appreciated....

What is the exact error message you're getting?

My insight is this: why don't you try a relevant newsgroup? This group
is for Word, not for Outlook.
