after a fresh boot outlook will run only once. after
that if i close it i cannot re-open! Taskmanager says
OUTLOOK EXE. is running twice. if i close them then i can
run outlook again and get my email. i've tried the
repair feature on the office cd, this didn't work. i've
just recently installed winfax pro 10 and maybe that's a
problem?

thanks from Hans

yes, it's winfax. Disable all sharing between the programs. Also,
http://sunflowerhead.com/software/knockout/ will make it easier to see if
outlook is running and you can exit it from the tray.

I have a client with the same problem but no winfax or
similar program - any further ideas?

I also am experiencing the problem Hans describes. I also do not have
winfax. My Outlook is configured in Enterprise mode (i.e., not
Internet mail). The problem appears to have started after I
configured Outlook Express to pull down my personal email via POP.
Configuring Outlook Express also turned on MSN Messenger (for no
explainable reason), and so I had to then configure MSN Messenger to
no longer start.

I have removed the Outlook Express account, but that has not rectified
the problem. I would attempt to uninstall Outlook Express, but I
don't immediately see any method to perform the removal.

Thanks for any help,
Christopher

I was eventually able to resolve the problem by uninstalling "Fourelle
Venturi", some software that was bundled with my Verizon cell data
card. I guess the problem must have started after I installed that
driver, but I hadn't noticed it until after I configured Outlook
Express.
