After examining Tools>Send/Receive... , I don't have anywhere to configure
an automatic Send/Receive interval. I have a Tools>Send/Receive>Send/Receive
Settings... but even that doesn't have a way to configure an automatic
Send/Receive interval. Are you sure this is where I should be in Outlook
2003?

Setting any automatic polling interval will force a poll on launch unless
your installation is corrupt.

I've got this set to 5 minutes. This doesn't check for mail
immediately
upon
opening up Outlook.
I'm interested in checking for any email to receive as soon as I run
Outlook, not after 5 minutes has gone by.

How do you get Outlook 2003 to receive your email when run Outlook from
the
start button? I always seem to have to click the Send/Receive
button
to
get
the email.
