Outlook 2003 VPN Users unable to connect

We have recently upgraded from Outlook 2000 to Outlook 2003. Since doing
this we have found that Users who log onto Windows XP with a cached domain
profile when at home and try to use outlook via the VPN are unable to connect
to the exchange server.

If the user logs onto windows with a local machine profile then goes into
outlook, it works fine.

We use Exchange 2000, and Checkpoint VPN-1 AI. I have created a hosts file
on each PC already, and checked that users are able to ping the exchange
server by name (FQ) when at home and outlook is setup in cached exchange mode.

Can anyone help?
 
Change Outlook 2003's authentication from Kerberos/NTLM to just NTLM and
give it another go. (Right click on Outlook Today - Mailbox <username> and
select properties. Select Advanced button. Go to Security tab.)

Outside of that, Outlook 2003 is going to connect to Exchange server(s) +
GCs. I will assume that vpn/firewall rules allow comms to both/all.

I just posted to this site with similar problem, i did find that if i delete
the profile and recreate it you can get in - once, once its closed must
recreate the profile again....please let me know if you find a solution.

PSST - Answer already supplied where you need to change the authentication
setting in Outlook from Kerberos/NTLM to NTLM.
 
Hey neo - thanks for that, I've been banging my head on the desk for two
weeks now but one simple change...
