Outlook 2003: Viewing Email and Calendar @ the Same Time

I want to be able to view my email and the calendar at the same time
in Outlook 2003. Why can't I do this (or can I)?

While viewing your Inbox, right-click the Calendar folder in the Navigation
Pane (you must be using the Folder List view to see it) and choose Open in
New Window.

That is not my decision, the company I am consulting for is on 2003.
