Hey Guys and Girls,

Here is the Setup:

MS Windows NT 4.0 Domain Server
MS Exchange 5.5
All Workstations are Win NT 4.0 or Win2K and Outlook 2000

Just received 2 new Windows XP workstations with Office 2003.

Setup Outlook 2003 for both Exchange and one Pop Server.

Problem:

When sending an email and directly type in or add adress from
address/contact list the email goes out fine.

When you try to reply to an external receive email the message is returned
immediately with the following error;

550 not local host <domain.com> not a gateway

Where domain.com is the domain of the user you are replying to.

Testing done:

Updated Office 2003 using office update-NO Solution
Changed Default mail profile-NO Solution.
Removed Pop Server-This resolved the problem. but couldn't get pop mail.
Removed the Exchange Server-This resolved the problem, just wasn't part of
Exchange anymore.
Removed Office 2003 from the workstations and installed Office 2000 and no
problems were found.

I must point out that I do have to specify that my pop server requires
authentication to send outbound mail through the pop server...and this works
fine.

No errors in the exchange server are reported.

At this point I am guessing it is a bug in Outlook 2003 or a problem between
2K3 and Exchange 4.5.

Any help or ideas would be greatly appreciated. I have to call MS Support
and start a tech call on this.

Thanks,

Mike
